As the year winds down, I’ve been reflecting not just on 2024 but on the five years since I launched my practice.
In March 2020, none of us could have predicted that the world was about to lock down. But it did, the same week I was hosting my practice’s launch event…
Yet perhaps like other optimists, I looked for the opportunity. Despite the craziness of that time, I worked with 40 organisations in that first year, helping their people feel good and function as well as they could during a time of huge upheaval and loss.
Since then, my work has evolved as the world has changed. Over the past five years, I’ve partnered with hundreds of people to:
- Build resilience in the face of ongoing volatility, pressure and challenge
- Become more productive and engaged so they succeed over the long-term
- Create cultures that attract and retain top talent.
What I love most about my practice is its adaptability – I can continuously respond to the evolving challenges people, leaders and teams face, supporting them to thrive in our increasingly complex world.
The Themes that shaped us
Over the past five years, each year has brought us new hurdles and required shifts in focus. From resilience to engagement and now a move toward sustainability, I’ve summarised the key themes and priorities that I believe defined 2020 to 2024 in the image below.
What’s coming next?
I’m calling 2025 the year of Connection.
I love making predictions, being challenged on them, and watching what unfolds. Over the next 12 months, I think Connection will define success.
In a world shaped by growing AI adoption, complex workplace dynamics, employee disengagement and burnout, and an ongoing ‘war for talent’, I believe Connection will be the key to individuals, leaders, teams and workplaces thriving.
When we focus on Connection – whether with ourselves, others, or our purpose – we open the door to being better, achieving more, and playing a bigger game. Prioritising Connection not only unlocks greater performance and deeper engagement but it also provides a competitive edge – whether against others or even AI!
What does Connection look like?
Connection to Self
- Discover your unique strengths, motivators, and definition of success
- Develop emotional agility to navigate and grow from challenges
- Prioritise what you need to thrive across all areas of your life.
Connection to Others
- Build a sense of belonging, whether in hybrid, remote or in-office environments
- Lead with empathy by better understanding the experiences and needs of others
- Master human skills – relationship-building, collaboration, and communication – that AI simply can’t replicate.
Connection to Purpose
- Activate your purpose to drive meaningful action
- Use your purpose as a guide to cut through distractions and maintain focus
- Align your purpose with your organisation’s mission to increase motivation.
Connected individuals feel more fulfilled. Connected teams consistently outperform others. And connected leaders create a lasting impact on their organisations and people.
