Even though we don’t always like to admit it, we’re facing tough times right now.

What people have been telling me recently is that the market is challenging, client expectations have increased, and resources are down, making it much harder to hit our KPIs. Particularly those in sales – which technically is everyone! So the pressure is mounting on all of us. Many are struggling, feeling exhausted and overwhelmed, and that’s impacting confidence.

What we know, however, is that the market will turn. At least, that’s how the optimists think!

And while the environment is tough, the best thing you can do is prepare for when it does improve. It might feel like the wrong time to do the work, but this is precisely the time to do it.

When your challenges are increasing, your ability to cope can lower. But when you strengthen your ability to cope, your challenges can decrease! So it makes sense that we would want to build the skills to cope well effectively.

So what to do?

We strengthen ourselves now to be ready for the opportunities that will come our way. Building resilience, nurturing connections, and improving our mindset will not only help us navigate these difficult times but also prepare us to seize the opportunities ahead.

Think about it… when the market improves – and it will – those who have taken the time to invest in themselves and strengthen their foundations will be the ones ready to hit the ground running.  Meanwhile those that haven’t laid the groundwork, might miss the opportunities and struggle to thrive. The effort put in now will pay dividends in the future!

What’s more, focusing on our growth can reignite our sense of purpose and motivation. Progress in our development fuels our drive and determination even in tough times. And this positive momentum doesn’t just benefit us professionally – it also impacts our personal lives, making a positive difference to our loved ones too.

How can I help?

Lately, I’ve been supporting leaders and teams to achieve three key objectives:

  1. Coping well with change and handling pressure
  2. Thriving despite the challenges
  3. Retaining and attracting top talent.

This is so they are equipped and ready for the future. If these priorities resonate with you and your team, I’d love to chat about how I can help.

So, what steps are you taking to get yourself ready?
